You haven't noticed the same amount of whining on the PvPers side? ArenaNet so far hasn't given in, only focused on one part at a time. They gaves PvP side some updates to HoH, the faction system, etc. Now the PvE side is getting some new areas and content soon. Next they'll focus on PvP again and so on and so forth.

what i dont understand is how people want to not have UW/FoW favor dependant, that would be another step in bringing the 2 sides further apart, whereas a "hardcore" PvE player does not have to PvP at all, but a "hardcore" PvP player has to PvP 600+ hours, just to have fun in PvP, and by that time it no longer becomes "fun".
and if a game isnt fun, then whats the point in playing it? thats the reason why alot of old guilds now become active, PvP players get tired of not having fun then quit the game, PvE players realize after playing through the game 4 times, getting fissure armor , then they realize theres nothing left to do, stop having fun, get bored of the game then quit and wait for 6 months for an expansion to come out?.

also im sick of people complaining about how people whine about current game issues,
why not make it so when you start you HAVE to make a pvp character, and play PVP 600+ hours, before your allowed to start PvE.
then we'll see who the real whiners are.

Seriously, its difficult to judge a good player before the battle starts.

Vent/ts, - listen to the dudes voice, if its a kid, then defintely no. But not 100% infallible.

Skill bar - perhaps the better way to id if a person is good or not - in a spiker group, someone who has firestorm on his skill bar needs to be booted. similarly, if someone tells me in pve that fire is a n00b element, he gets the boot as well. (unless we are in rof then he more justified)

Low lvl, forge armour ppl - unless the situation calls for a full fledge ascended hero (post droknar missions), i'd usually give in if the lvl is not too low - i.e. henchies lvl +/- 1. Missions in southern shiverpeaks - I do not accept anyone lower than 20 because ur damage/spell o/p would be lower than someone who is ascended. (under the assumption that they have at least done one 15 attribute quest).

People who i'd allow provided they dun sound too immature - forge weilding low lvlers with elites caped from shiverpeaks. Reason? because these people may have gotten a run, and used henchies to get their elite. If u can use henchies, and control them at a lower lvl, then chances are u know how to play in a team.

my 2c anyway

I'm PvE only. I've tried the PvP and it never really tickled my fancy, so when I finish up PvE it's uninstall time and new game time.

Prior to the rise of NR spam two months ago, I really, really enjoyed PvP with my Mesmer in high-level arenas. Post NR there were really only two builds I could make that might have had an impact on the game at all, I tried them. I got bored with them. I stopped PvPing.

Now I'm not trying to derail this rather interesting thread into a NR hate/lovefest, but I really thought this was an excellent time to express my feelings about PvP in general.

Until such a time that PvP allows me to explore builds and experiment with my Mesmer, I'm just not going to bother. Give me back the utility of 58% of my skill list and I'll happily return to the PvP side of the game. It's fun, interesting, and requires quick thinking and skill.

the count so far then

like both = 7 inc me
like mainly pve or balance isssues put u off pvp = 3
PVE only = 2

not tried or not sure about pvp = 2

I have not counted the PVPs as that is not the question

Please tell me if i counted wrong as it went a bit of topic going on about UAS and how the two should be split so coulnd count them in as they didnt say.

ok so what im starting to see is PVPs who wont PVE and visa versa, which we new about.

I basicly want to see how many people would want to see an area that needs pvp to get into, or some kind of pvp challange like who can clear their base of monsters first (im working on this in the suggestions forum)

now theres a large group in the middles who like both and might be interested in this, of course its too soon to tell so..

MORE PLEASE

cmon PVE's do you also do PVP?

Really the two work together in harmony pretty well.

I think people who don't like PvP are just those WoW players who have only ever touched the 4vs4 areana.

I think people who don't like PvE are just those CS players who thought that this game was just going to be Counter Strike 3.

I've played Counter Strike for 3 or so years...everything from OGL to Cal-P....to a group of Cal-m players that played cal-o with just a knife and a hand grenade....to pugs....to warcraft mod servers...to jump servers...I've pretty much played the hell out of the game. I don't play PvP in this game at all...a couple of times just to see what it was like and to test builds against other players for the hell of it. I might PvP once every week or two. I want Twitch PvP games....Guild Wars PvP doesn't entertain me at all...honestly I don't see there being alot of skill involved in GW PvP. There is alot of thought involved...but bring the right build for the right encounter and you eliminate the "skill" factor. Maybe some people see "picking the right buid" as "skill"...maybe I just much prefer twitch games...doesn's matter either way. I do however believe that counter strike players are severely dissapointed by the PvP in this game. I got nothing against people that enjoy PvP..games are meant to be played the way YOU want to play them...it's just not my cup of tea.

At the moment I'm more of a PVE'r though thats not entirely by choice :P. I like both though I'd prefer to be PvPing as I come from the D2 pvp crowd.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, I know a 26 year old D2 player that still says ggpwntnore and eZpk over vent.

I've been gaming since 1981. I own 25 different game consoles, not counting duplicates, my wife's Game Boys, and certain 8-bit computers that are basically game machines. My first experience playing a real-time networked multiplayer action game on the Internet was netrek, in 1992.

And I significantly prefer PvE to PvP, only PvPing when my guild _really_ needs an eighth for Tombs or GvG and no one else is available. I'm actually on the verge of deleting my PvP character, as I want to try out a fourth PvE class and can always bring my other three PvE chars to Tombs when necessary.

I'm a, almost 100%, PvE player.
It's not that I don't enjoy or appretiate PvP, but I have just never been any good at it, which diminishes the fun of it.
The way I see it is ANet has created a game to cater for both types of play, they should continue to support both and if that means I have to wait a bit longer for new PvE content, then I'm happy with that. At least they are supporting thier player base, while charging no monthly fee, I call that a bargin.

I was a 100% pve player, but now that I've found a good guild and I'm just getting bored with pve I've started to pvp alot more. Now whenever I can get some time and a tombs group is going I'm game for it. I'd be glad to drop out of a pve mission to get a guild group going in tombs.

What utter bullshit.

I've been gaming for over 20 years, and I don't like PvP as implemented in Guildwars. I do like PvP as implemented in fps's.

I play PvP occasionally in Guildwars but the proportion is something like 99.5% PvE and 0.5% PvP.

I PvE only with pretty much no interest in PvP for the simple fact it simply does not interest me. Send me into a vast world with maps to explore, skills to learn and sights to see... I'm happy.

Ditto. I'll mess around with PvP once in awhile for kicks, but other than that I'm a PvE guy.

PvEer thru & thru. Why don't I PvP? I prefer exploring the PvE world, learning/earning skills & such. I dislike the PvP gameplay style but even more importantly I dislike the leet attitudes seen in (many)PvP players. They think they are god's gift to GW & don't you forget it! Community attitude has a lot to do with the enjoyment of a online game for me.
